Chair Vijums asked how the Commission wanted to proceed with the sign standard adjustment request. Commissioner Wicklund stated he did not have any concerns regarding the sign flexibility request. Commissioner Weber, Commissioner Blilie and Commissioner Bjorklund agreed. Chair Vijums also agreed, noting other sign standard adjustments have been granted by the City. He recommended that the business only be advertised on one building and not both. Mr. Smith stated he would like the buildings to be signed differently with one being Crew Car Wash and the other being Crew Interiors. Chair Vijums questioned if the Applicant has thought about how to gain another access point onto Lexington Avenue. Commissioner Weber reported the Applicant would not be able to get another access point approved by Ramsey County. Chair Vijums stated with only one access point, he would recommend this area be widened. Mr. Smith said they would consider widening the entrance. He explained he looked at using the alleyway as an access point, but the alleyway was not deemed a City street. Chair Vijums questioned if the Applicant had another car wash that was designed in a similar manner as this. Mr. Smith stated the Crew Carwash in Eden Prairie was very similar, except the parking was not in the middle. He explained there were other operations in Indiana that had both interior and exterior wash buildings. Chair Vijums stated it appears the Commission supported this item moving forward with an amendment to only have one wall sign along Lexington Avenue. He recommended the driveway curb cut wider. Commissioner Wicklund recommended Condition 23 read: The Applicant must work with City staff to confirm adequate egress. Commissioner Wicklund suggested Condition 17 be amended to read: The City approves one wall sign per street frontage. Community Development Director Jagoe explained the Applicant would be able to pick one sign for the east elevation.
