Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM – 3A <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: January 10, 2024 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Members <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: EDC Chair and Vice-Chair roles <br /> <br />Requested Action <br /> <br />Staff is asking the Economic Development Commission to affirm a Vice Chair for the <br />Commission. <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the October 23 meeting, the EDC discussed the Chair and Vice Chair positions. The <br />Commission Chair role is appointed by the City Council. The Vice Chair position is appointed by <br />the Commission. The Chair facilitates the EDC meeting by working through the agenda and <br />guiding Commission meetings. The Vice Chair is available to fill in if the Chair is absent. The <br />term length for both roles is one year. <br />During the October meeting, Commissioner Cupery indicated interest in the Chair position and <br />Commissioner Schneider indicated interest in the Vice Chair position. After the meeting, <br />Commissioner Subramanian also indicated interest in the Vice Chair position. <br />The appointment of Commissioner Cupery to Chair of the EDC is being considered at the January <br />8 City Council meeting. The Commission Vice Chair position is typically affirmed at the first <br />meeting of the new year. <br />Next Steps <br />The EDC may discuss the appointment of a Vice Chair and the possibility of affirming two Vice <br />Chairs.
