Page 1 of 1 <br /> <br /> EDC AGENDA ITEM – 3B <br /> <br />MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: January 10, 2024 <br /> <br />TO: Economic Development Commission Members <br /> <br />FROM: Elena Fransen, Senior Planner <br /> <br />SUBJECT: EDC Meeting Frequency in 2024 <br /> <br />Requested Action <br />Staff is asking the Economic Development Commission to consider the frequency of meetings in <br />2024. The EDC could choose to add more meetings to the schedule and may consider the timing <br />and dates of additional meetings. The EDC may determine changes to the meeting schedule <br />accordingly. <br /> <br />Background <br />Currently, the Economic Development Commission is scheduled to meet on the fourth Wednesday <br />of even months for an hour and a half. This equates to six regularly scheduled meetings per year <br />and nine hours of meeting time. There was a comment at the October meeting that the EDC could <br />switch the meeting frequency to every month for the first half of the year in order to work through <br />the tasks that have been set forth by the City Council and address other tasks identified by the <br />EDC. <br /> <br />Current meeting schedule for 2024 <br />- February 28 <br />- April 24 <br />- June 26 <br />- August 28 <br />- October 23 <br />- December 26 (Thursday after Christmas Day) <br /> <br />Options <br />Meeting monthly through May 2024 <br />- Additional meeting dates would be March 27 and May 22. <br />Meeting monthly through 2024 <br />- Additional meeting dates would be March 27, May 22, July 24, September 25, and <br />November 27. <br /> <br />Next Steps <br />Staff will take the recommendation from the EDC and update the meeting schedule.
