I
I.
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
.-
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I-
I

ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - MAY 30, 1995

4

Councilmember Malone inquired, even though the trail is not put in, will there still be the accessible
comers on the curbs. Mr. Stonehouse indicated this still would be done in case of a future trail.

Councilmember Hicks commented that the cost of a future trail would be considerably higher and
would take 100% petition support for the Council to consider.

Mayor Probst indicated, for clarification, that the Resolution before the Council is regarding the
acceptance of bids and authorizes execution of a contract for the County Road F Reconstruction
Project, but it does not address or resolve any assessments regarding the reconstruction.

Councilmember Malone indicated in his opinion, to construct the trail now, would be in the best
interest of the City, and would vote in a positive manner for the trail if voted upon.

Councilmember Hicks concurred with Councilmember Malone. He felt spending money on the
reconstruction without the trail was odd, but he felt it was a matter of being responsive to the request
of the residents in the area.

Councilmember Hicks indicated during some discussions there would be some shoulder striping.
Mr. Stonehouse indicated there would be a six foot striping on each side of the road.

MOTION:

Hicks moved and Aplikowski seconded a motion to adopt Resolution 95-35,
Accepting the Bid and Authorize Execution of a Contract in the Matter of the
County Road F Reconstruction Project, as per the Plan with the exception of the
trailIwalkway from Mounds View High School east to Old Highway 10. The motion
carried nn"nimously (5-0).

Councilmember Malone indicated he would support the motion since the trail issue is not a separate
item of concern.

Mayor Probst inquired as to when the neighborhood could expect to see activity. Mr. Stonehouse
indicated some of the utility work would begin in the next week or so, but no major road work would
begin until after June. Mr. Stonehouse indicated he would be sending a newsletter to the residents
notifying them of the project activities.

TCAAP Update

City Administrator Fritsinger indicated the Arden Hills TCAAP Task Force continues to meet every
other Wednesday and their next meeting will be May 31 st.

Mr. Fritsinger indicated issues discussed by the Task Force are: marketing and development in the
northern suburbs, legal issues, pollution control, infrastructure and natural resource issues.
