Motion carriad unanimously. (4-0) Council questioned if the number of finance committee members is mandated by Ordinance and if there were any other residents interested in serving on Finance Committee; there are normally ten members. Staff was directed to research this matter and report at the Regular Council Keeting held January 30, at which time Council would appoint an individual to the remaining seat. ACKNOWLEDGE COMM. APPOINTMENTS Mayor Sather recommended Mark Peterson be reappointed to the Parks Committee. Hansen moved, seconded by Growe, that Council ratify the Mayor's recommendation to reappoint Mark Peterson to the Parks Committee. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) PURCHASE COPIER Council was referred to the memorandum from Deputy Clerk Iago dated 1-5-89, relative to the purchase of a copier. the expenditure outlined in the (4-0) Hansen moved, seconded by Malone, that Council approve of $5,940.00 as budgeted for the purchase of a copier, as Deputy Clerk's memorandum of 1-5-89. Motion carried unanimously. CLAIMS & PAYROLL Malone moved, seconded by Hansen. that Council approve Claims and Payroll as submitted. Motion carried. (4-0) LAND PURCHASE Clerk Administrator Berger reported on the land purchaae of Parcel B located on Highway 96. adjacent to the Public Works Building. in the amount of $128.700. He advised there is one parcel remaining to complete the City land purchase agreement. OTHER BUSINESS CHARITABLE GAMB'LNG Councilmember Hansen suggested Council consider including a provision in the proposed Charitable Gambling Ordinance which requires a certain percentage of the profits be directed to the City for parks or to benefit local organizations. neighboring communities or the school district. She further suggested the Council should consider including a provision which states priority be given to local organizations making application for licensing. Council requested the Clerk Administrator survey other cities to determine if they have provisions in their gambling ordinances which give licensing priority to local organizationa; he waa further requested to refer the information from the survey and the Council discussion of this evening to the Attorney for his recommendation and incorporation in the proposed Charitable Gambling Ordinance. STOP SIGN; CO. RD. F AND FERNWOOD Councilmember Malone requestsd Public Works Supervisor Raddatz remove the temporary stop sign located at the intersection of County Road F and Fernwood Avenus. MISC; MEETINGS Mayor Sather reminded Council of the Joint Meeting with Shoreviewon 1/10/89, 7:30 p.m., at the Village Hall. He further advised that the Finance Committee would be meeting in the Council chambera on 1/26/89 and the interviews for Council appointment may be changed to an earlier time or different location in the building.
