<br />r <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />-I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />MINUTES OF THE ARDEN HILLS SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING <br />Tuesday, January 3, 1969, 5:30 p.m. - Village Hall <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, Councilmember <br />Hansen called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL The roll being called the following members were present: <br />Councilmembers Nancy Hansen, Thomas Sather, JoAnn Growe <br />and Paul Malone. Also present: Attorney James Lynden, Treasurer Frank Green, <br />Public Works Supervisor Robert Raddatz, Clerk Administrator Gary Berger and <br />Deputy Clerk Catherine Iago. <br /> <br />APPOINT TEMPORARY <br />CHAIRPERSON <br /> <br />Sather moved, seconded by Growe, that Councilmember <br />Hansen be appointed as temporary Chair of the Council. <br />Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />OATHS OF OFFICE <br /> <br />Deputy Clerk Iago serving as a Notary Public administered <br />the Oath of Office to Clerk Administrator Gary Berger. <br /> <br />Berger adminietered the Oath of Office to Councilmembere Sether and Malone, and <br />Treasurer Frank Green. <br /> <br />RES. #89-01; <br />COMMENDING MAYOR <br />ACCEPT. RESIGNATION <br /> <br />Sather moved, seconded by Growe, that Council approve <br />Resolution No. 69-01, Commendin2 Robert L. Woodburn for <br />His Years of Service to the City, Acknowledging Receipt <br />and Acceptance of His Resi2nation as Mayor, and Declarin2 <br />for the Office of Mayor. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />that a Vacancy Exists <br /> <br />Councilmembers extended their sincere appreciation to Robert Woodburn for his <br />years of service to the Village and expressed the fact he will be missed by <br />Council. <br /> <br />RES. #89-02; APPOINT <br />MAYOR TO FILL <br />UNEXPIRED TERM <br /> <br />Council and the City Attorney discussed the procedures <br />for appointment of Mayor to fill the unexpired term. <br /> <br />It was determined the procedures should be as follows: Councilmembers interested <br />in serving as Mayor should declare interest, nominations should be made, and a <br />vote taken. <br /> <br />Councilmembers Sather and Hansen declared interest in appointment as Mayor. <br /> <br />Councilmember Malone nominated Sather for Mayor. No other nominations were <br />received. <br /> <br />Moved by Malone, seconded by Growe, that Council adopt <br />Resolution No. 89-02, Appointing Tho$as R. Sather Mayor to Fill Unexpired Term. <br />Motion carried unanimously. (3-0) <br /> <br />Clerk Administrator Berger administered the Oath of Office to Mayor Sather. <br /> <br />RES. #89-03; <br />DECLARE VACANCY <br />COUNCILMEMBER <br /> <br />Mslone moved, seconded by Hansen, that Council adopt <br />Resolution No. 89-03, Declaring that Vacancy Exists <br />As Councilmember. Motion carried unanimously. (4-0) <br /> <br />APPT. COUNCILMBR. <br /> <br />Council discussed procedure for appointment to fill the <br />unexpired term for Council. <br /> <br />Councilmembers favored accepting letters from residents who are interested in <br />serving and interviewing interested parties at a Special Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Sather moved, seconded by Hansen, that Council direct <br />staff to advertise in the newspapers and other methods available that letters <br />expressing interest in serving as Councilmember from Arden Hills residents will <br />be accepted until January 20, 1989, and, further, that a Special Council Meeting, <br />for the purpose of interviewing interested residents, be held on Thursday, <br />January 26, 1989, at 7:30 p.m., at the Village Hall. Motion carried unanimously. <br />(4-0) <br /> <br />1989 VILLAGE <br />APPOINTMENTS <br /> <br />Council discussed the 1989 Village Appointments; <br />Mayor Sather recommended no appointment be made for a <br />consulting engineer at this time and Council discussed <br />for engineering services at a later date. <br /> <br />soliciting proposals <br />
