Wayne Johnson stated the LJFD has set restrictions on the activities of <br /> the members at the station because they were aware of problems that <br /> occurred a few years ago. He advised the members of LJFD were willing to <br /> address the concerns of the neighbors and Planning Commission. Johnson <br /> further stated the intent of expansion of the Station is not to create a <br /> social club, but to facilitate the growing needs of the fire department. <br /> Heury asked if guidelines restricting the activities, hours and types of <br /> functions, could be drawn up by the Fire Chief and presented to the <br /> Council at their regular meeting November 10th. <br /> Winkel stated the guidelines could be drawn by that date, however he would <br /> probably request the C!erk Administrator place this item on an Agenda <br /> later in the month. <br /> Arthur Cloutier. 1890 Jerrold Avenue, opposed the expansion of the station <br /> because of the increased activity and asked if his property value wou!d <br /> decrease due to the expansion. <br /> . Curtis advised the members were not qualified to answer the question of <br /> decreased property values, however he noted the appearance of the station <br /> will be enhanced because of the renovation and social activities will be <br /> restricted with guidelines set up. <br /> The public hearinR was closed at 8:30 p.m. <br /> Maury moved, seconded by McCall, that Commission recommend to Council <br /> approva! of the Special Use Permit for Fire Station Renovation/Expansion, <br /> Lake Johanna Fire Department Station No.1, New Brighton Road, subject to <br /> the following conditions: <br /> 1. The Site/building shall be used only for a three-bay fire station and <br /> associated office, training and social functions. <br /> 2. Use of meeting, training and social facilities shall be limited to <br /> activities related to Lake Johanna Fire Department and a set of <br /> guide!ines governing the social use of the building be made a part <br /> of the Special Use Permit. <br /> 3. Landscaping shall conform to minimum sizes and amounts as established <br /> by City and approved by the Planner. <br /> 4. Any exterior lighting shall have hidden light source and shall not <br /> exceed 2 footcand!es at the property lines of adjacent residences. <br /> Commission further recommends Council approval of the 12 foot Front <br /> Setback Veriance as outlined by the Planner. <br /> .
