The Planner stated the members could identify social functions to be restricted and limit number of functions per month in the SUP; it problems arise the SUP could be reviewed for revocation. . Wayne Johnson stated the LJFD has set restrictions on the activities of the members at the station because they were aware of problems that occurred a few years ago. He advised the members of LJFD were willing to address the concerns of the neighbors and Planning Commission. Johnson further stated the intent of expansion of the Station is not to create a social club, but to facilitate the growing needs of the fire department. Heury asked if guidelines restricting the activities, hours and types of functions, could be drawn up by the Fire Chief and presented to the Council at their regular meeting November 10th. Winkel stated the guidelines could be drawn by that date, however he would probably request the C!erk Administrator place this item on an Agenda later in the month. Arthur Cloutier. 1890 Jerrold Avenue, opposed the expansion of the station because of the increased activity and asked if his property value wou!d decrease due to the expansion. . Curtis advised the members were not qualified to answer the question of decreased property values, however he noted the appearance of the station will be enhanced because of the renovation and social activities will be restricted with guidelines set up. The public hearinR was closed at 8:30 p.m. Maury moved, seconded by McCall, that Commission recommend to Council approva! of the Special Use Permit for Fire Station Renovation/Expansion, Lake Johanna Fire Department Station No.1, New Brighton Road, subject to the following conditions: 1. The Site/building shall be used only for a three-bay fire station and associated office, training and social functions. 2. Use of meeting, training and social facilities shall be limited to activities related to Lake Johanna Fire Department and a set of guide!ines governing the social use of the building be made a part of the Special Use Permit. 3. Landscaping shall conform to minimum sizes and amounts as established by City and approved by the Planner. 4. Any exterior lighting shall have hidden light source and shall not exceed 2 footcand!es at the property lines of adjacent residences.
