Motion carried.
(Zebm, Malone. Petersen. Thorn voting in favor; Babcook abstained) (4-0-1)
CASE NO. 87-08; The Public Hearing was opened at 8:25 p.m. Deputy Clerk
REZONING FROM B-2 Iago vertified the publication of the Notice of Hearing
TO 1-2; SCHERER in the New BriRhton Bulletin, on Wednesday, April 22nd,
LUMBER, HWY. 10 and mailing on the same date.
Planner Miller reviewed his memorandum of 4-10-87 and noted that under current
zoningt the existing lumberyard is a non-conforming use. He noted the following
. factors which support the requested rezoning:
1. Rezoning is necessary to accommodate the upgrading of an existing use.
2. The site is relatively isolated, surrounded on three sides by major
arterials.
3. The land across Highways 10 and 35W is zoned and developed industrially.
Miller recommended approval of the requested rezoning.
Larry Leitshuh, Scherer Lumber, explained that it is Scherer Lumber's desire to
bring the property into conformance by requesting the rezoning from B-2 to 1-2.
Acting Chair Petersen asked if Council had approved any other variances than
those listed in the Planning Commission recommendation in the minutes of
4-1-87.
Planner Miller advised the Council had not approved any further variances; he
noted that a sign variance would have to be considered as a separate action.
Leitshuh advised they have not finanlized plans for the sign and are not
requesting a sign variance at this time.
Acting Chair Petersen asked if there were any comments from the floor either in
favor of or opposed to the proposed rezoning of this parcel.
. There was no response from the floor.
