....
-
Minutes of Parks and Recreation Committee Minutes, January 27, 1987
Page 2
. but until they mature, the area is devoid of shade. This newly
developed area has lots of tiny tots, and the park area is used
extensively by young and old.
Perry 10,000
It is about eight years since the parking lot has been upgraded.
At this time it needs new cement bumpers (original ones were
railroad ties, now rotting), and resurfacing. Buckley plans to
expand the parking towards the road.
Crepeau $3,000
Original plans for this park called for play equipment, etc.
to make this a neighborhood park. The neighborhood much prefers
this be kept as a nature preserve. The preserve has become one
of the most popular of our park areas. Plans for this year in-
clude additional plantings of wild flowers. more upgrading of
the trail, and addition of a floating bridge in bog area. The
Arden Hills' Sportsman's Club will provide labor and some
financial help in installing the bridge.
Floral Park 11,500
Replacement of some of the play equipment, and additions are
planned ($8,000) in this heavily used park. Addition of a
picnic shelter ($3,500), especially needed during summer program
activities, is also planned.
. Cumminll:s $2,000
These funds will construct a trail down towards the lake at
the west end. Since the terrain is steep, Committee
discussed blacktopping this portion of the trail; asked
Buckley to look into costs.
North Snellinll: $7,500
Plans are to complete grading of this park, and seeding.
No further development is planned until 1988. A grading
plan has been developed with Orlyn Miller.
Trails 12,500
It is imperative that the trail from Norma Avenue to Floral
Park be developed, as well as the trail under the power line
just north of Colleen so property owners are aware of the
fact that this is park property. The trail from the Village
Hall down to Floral needs to be established also. Other
trails need upgrading.
Noting that wood chips and ag lime have both proved unsatisfactory
as trail surfaces for an extended period of time, the Committee
concurred to establish a subcommittee of Peterson, Enrooth,
Sued beck , and Buckley to explore methods of trail development and
maintenance. Subcommittee should provide costs and upkeep
information on blacktopping of trails, and possibly develop a
. trail map scheduling the various trails for improvement. Com-
