March 26, 1987 MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS CITY OF ARDEN HILLS, MINNESOTA Subject: MOIDmSVIEW HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT PARKING Ladies and Gentlemen: For our own benefit, as we 11 as the benefit of our concerned neighbors, we would like to see something done to prevent our suburban residential neighborhood from being turned into a parking lot. Students from Moundsview High School are trying to do just that. They wish to park their cars in front of . our homes and walk through our yards to school. Since its a quite a walk, we can't understand why they want to do this, but they do. Janet Court, directly across from the school, has cars parked bumper to bumper on both sides of the street. This is extremely dangerous to children on the street and could be a disaster in case of an emergency. If this were to continue, snow plowing would be another consideration. We, on the north end of Fairview Avenue, south of County Road F, are beginning to find the problem showing up. This adds the burden of more than usual trespassers cutting paths through our lawns, more pop and beer cans and litter of all kinds. It also gives the students the opportunity to pilfer from the yards. The hood ornament was recently stolen from our car and one time someone even stole our commemorative flag from our flagpole. We don't want them going through our yard. Moundsview High School has deteriorated as a neighbor in recent years. The students and faculty are neither considerate nor concerned. We need some protection and help. We li ve wi th a number of problems that the school cannot (or is unwilling to) contro I, including bright lights, speeding and reckless driving, etc. Now there is the parking problem. . Perhaps an enforced two hour parking limit, residential parking only, or something of that nature would cure the problem. Thank you for your consideration.
