.
.
Agenda Items, September 11, 1987 Page 2
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. Finance Committee Report: The Finance Committee, at their meeting of 8/27/87,
. made a recommendation to increase insurance requirements, for contractors,
(now at $25,000/$100,000/$25,000) to $300,000 aggregate and $100,000 property
damage.
I have spoken with Mr. Bill Hite about coverage. His recommendations are
as outlined in the attached Certificate of Insurance which has been drafted.
We have also incorporated Worker's Compensation, which was mandated by the
State in 1986.
This increase would not necessitate an Ordinance amendment.
I would like to recommend that an Ordinance amendment be~.made to dissallow
prorating of contractor's license fees (this would include: Mechanical,
General Contracting and Excavating). Our fees are based on a calendar
year basis, and are $25.00 per year. The administrative costs are the
same irregardless of the time of the year the license is issued; the
contractors generally are accustomed to paying a larger annual fee without
prorating; and, in speaking with our respective inspectors, they concur
with this recommendation. The Ordinance amendment could be accomplished
with the amendment being drafted now by Mr. Lynden for the licenses.
This, if the Council concurs, should be accomplished by formal Council action.
10. Committee Appointments: We have received two applications for the Finance
Committee: Thomas R. Mulcahy, 3530 Siems Court, Valerie Miller, 1704
Chatham Avenue; and, three applications for Human Rights: Ray M. Conroe,
1528 W. Edgewater Avenue, Howard Myles, 3736 Brighton Way So., Mrs. Raminek
. Shah, 1435 Bussard Court (Mayor Woodburn has her application).
We have also pulled an application received in January for the Finance
Committee: Sandra Dunehacke, 1266 Nursery Hill Lane.
11. Clerk Administrator Report:
A. Computer System: Cathy has prepared a memo requesting the approval
for purchase of a computer system; she will be happy to answer any
questions you may have either before or at the meeting.
$5,000.00 was budgeted, in 1987, for additional computer/software;
we have a balance of $3,989.00 in our capital outlay budget for 1987.
.
