,
VILLAGE OF SHOREVIEW
RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA
. 4665 NORTH VICTORiA STREET
Shoreview, Minnesota 55126 . Telephone 4S4-3353
October 22, 1987
Mayor and City Council
City of Arden Hills
c/o Pat Morrison
1450 W. Hwy. 96
Arden Hills, MN 55112
Dear Mayor Woodburn and Members of the Council:
The Shoreview City Council passed the enclosed resolution at
their last regular meeting on October 19, 1987, pertaining to the
municipal ownership of fire equipment. In our negotiations with
the Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department on budget matters, we
have determined that a major issue is whether or not the three
cities will assume ownership and responsibility for depreciation
of major fire equipment in the future.
You have previously sent us correspondence indicating your
. interest in proceeding with municipal ownership of the equipment
in the future. It is our understanding that you are proceeding
with the concept of municipal ownership in your negotiations with
the Fire Department on a new contract. However, during the time
period before you can complete negotiations and actually execute
a new contract with the Fire Department, we believe it may help
in the negotiation with the Fire Department if you pass the same
or similar resolution that we have approved. The Fire Department
appears to be reluctant to reduce its budget proposals until they
have a definite commitment from all three cities to future
municipal ownership and depreciation for the major fire equipment
in each station.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
!!J~ v/I !y f}~-,
Dwight D.
