RESOLUTION NO. 87-124 <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Shoreview and the Lake Johanna <br /> Volunteer Fire Department have been negotiating on the budget for <br /> the Fire Department for the second half of 1987 and 1988; and <br /> WHEREAS, a major issue in the negotiation process is the <br /> amount of depreciation to be included in the fire budget for <br /> future purchase or replacement of major equipment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Shoreview has a contract with the <br /> Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department which clearly anticipates <br /> that the City of Shoreview will purchase, own, and depreciate all <br /> major equipment in fire stations in which the City has an <br /> interest; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Shoreview has a demonstrated policy <br /> of purchasing, owning, and depreciating major equipment in <br /> conjunction with the construction of Fire Station 13 and by <br /> seeking bids for major equipment for Fire Station 14; <br /> . WHEREAS, the Shoreview City Council wishes to strongly <br /> reaffirm its policy of purchasing, owning, and depreciating major <br /> fire equipment in the future; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of <br /> the City of Shoreview that the City hereby goes on record to <br /> reaffirm its policy and contractual commitment of purchasing, <br /> replacing, owning, and depreciating all major equipment in Fire <br /> Stations 3 and 4 and to purchase, replace, own, and depreciate <br /> all equipment in Station 2 subject to a mutual agreement on cost <br /> sharing for Station 2 with the City of North Oaks. <br /> AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Shoreview <br /> encourages the cities of North Oaks and Arden Hills to formally <br /> adopt similar resolutions of support for municipal ownership of <br /> major fire equipment. <br /> ~([)~ <br /> Ci Y Manaiifer <br /> SEAL <br /> . <br />
