Public Works Director / City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Arden Oaks Park & Freeway Park Improvement Project <br />Budgeted Amount: Actual Amount: Funding Source: <br />$230,000 — Arden Oaks Park $TBD PIR — Parks <br />$230,000 — Freeway Park <br />Council Should Consider <br />• Council should consider the project scope for the proposed 2025 Park Improvement <br />Project at Arden Oaks Park and Freeway Park. <br />• Council should consider requesting a proposal from an Engineering Consultant. <br />Background <br />Arden Oaks Park and Freeway Park play structures and swings were built in 1999 and 1998, <br />respectively. Through the City's Park Maintenance Management Plan park equipment is to be <br />considered for replacement on a 20-year cycle. Within the 2024-2028 CIP (Attachment A sheets <br />I and 3), Arden Oaks Park and Freeway Park is programmed for improvements in 2025. All of <br />the programmed Parks related capital projects were provided as reference for Council. <br />By the City's Park Maintenance Management Plan, hardcourts are to be considered for <br />resurfacing every 5-8-years, with a life expectancy of 25-35 years depending on conditions. <br />Arden Oaks Park and Freeway Park are scheduled for a resurfacing in 2025. By visual <br />inspection, the surface is showing signs for replacement but the underlying soils do not appear to <br />have an issue with significant heaving. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
