Discussion
Staff is requesting Council discuss moving forward with improving these Parks with the
anticipated timeline of project completion with construction by the end of Fall 2025.
The proposed 2025 Park Improvement Project is only budgeted for the replacement of the play
structures, rehabilitation of the hardcourts and some miscellaneous items that relate to the play
structure or hardcourts or items that have been consistent in recent past Park Improvement
Projects.
Public Works Staff and PTRC have each performed site visits and listed feedback for potential
park improvements, in addition to the play structures and hardcourts, in the attached presentation
(Attachment B). The request lists are not currently budgeted, Council should consider additions
to the project scope using these lists and also from their own input.
Staff did not provide estimates for the request items, if Council chooses an item to add to the
project scope, the cost estimates will be performed through the design phase.
Staff recommends requesting a proposal from an engineering consultant to take the project from
start to finish. Tasks to include, but not limited to, are public engagement, public surveys, open
houses, project management, design coordination, Council presentations, vendor/contractor
coordination, bidding assistance, construction survey and construction observation. Once the
proposal is received and reviewed by Staff, it would be brought to Council at a future meeting
for consideration.
Budget Impact
The project funding is provided below:
Arden Oaks Park budget.
Hardcourt rehab $ 80,000
Play structure replacement $ 150,000
Total Budget $ 230,000
Funding source:
Arden Oaks Park $ 230,000.00 PIR -Parks
Freeway Park $ 230,000.00 PIR -Parks
Total funding $ 460,000.00 PIR -Parks
Attachments
Freeway Park budget:
Hardcourt rehab $ 80,000
Play structure replacement $ 150,000
Total budget $ 230,000
Attachment A — 2024-2028 CIP
Attachment B — Arden Oaks and Freeway Parks Amenities Presentation
Page 2 of 2
