.'
.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this study, conducted at the request of the Arden Hills City Counci I,
was the evaluation of the existing Village Hall/Public Works Building site to de-
termine (1) the adequocy of the site to accommodate expanded foci lities, and (2)
to define the logical direction of potential expansion.
The City has several options relating to future expansion of facilities: Reduce
level of ITIllnicipal services to minimize space needs; centralize 011 functions on 0
single site; move the public works facility to 0 site within on industrial district;
expand the old fire station, now used for equipment storage; lease storage space
from the Twin Cities Arsenal. Obviously, numerous decisions ore required before
any specific expansion project is initiated. These decisions will require careful
analysis of alternatives os well as public input. In order to accomplish this evalu-
ation, however, it is necessary to make certain assumptions upon which future
expansion requirements con be based. These assumptions ore listed below.
ASSUMPTIONS .
The City of Arden Hi lis wi II maintain the .current level of municipal ser-
1.
vices in the future.
2. The City of Arden Hills will maintain its own police department in the
future. (Request of City Council).
3. All City functions - administration, public works, parks and recreation,
police - will be centralized on the existing site.
.
-1-
