.
Memorandum
.
============================================================
Date: January 20. 1990
To: Mayor and Council
From: Paul L. Malone. Councllmember ~
Re: Report on Lake Johanna Volunteer Fire Department
Equipment.
============================================================
While attending the meeting of the Lake Johanna
Firemen's Benefit Association at station 1 . I notlce,j that
II new" 762 was now in service. This new pumper arrived in
December and Is responding from station 1. Seeing the truck
reminded me that an update on the department's rolling stock
m i gh t be 0 f interest to the council.
At one time. all of the vehicles were owned by the fire
department. Now, ownership Is a mixture, and we have
indicated that the cities would be responsible for all
. future purchases. This new truck, 762, represents the final
except! on to that rule, as during the most recent contract
negotiatIons It was agreed that the department would use
some of Its accumulated capital to buy one last vehicle for
use in Arden Hills. The department had, as of the end of
1988, assets totalling nearly $1.5 million, of which just
over $500,000 was in cash. The new truck was financed from
this cash balance, which has been accumulated by the excess
of revenues over expenses, and the cash flow resulting from
Charging the cities for depreciation.
. -- Pa,ge 1 --
