-
.
, Mayor and Council
.
L...l.V.F.D. Equipment
January 20. 1990
. We can probably also expect a request to replace the
resCue truck In the near future. Not lIsted on the roster
Is the hazardous materials truck. My understanding is that
the vehicle for this function wi I I be New Brighton's former
reSCue truck. and this unIt should be serviceable for at
least several years.
The department moves the trucks around to the various
stations as needed. Presently. 761 and 762 are in station
1. as is one of the newer grass rigs. The tanker (764) is
in station 2, as. I beiieve, are pumpers 763 and 765.
Shoreview's two pumpers <840, 841) are usually split between
stations 3 and 4. with the two aerials (842, 843) similarly
stationea. Old 762, a 1968 General/Mack. is st ill at one of
the stat ions. but is lIkely to be sold.
We should not be faced with any major equipment
requests in the near future. The department has 6 pumpers,
which is prObably more than what is needed. Of these, 5 are
less than 4 years old. Arden Hills" needs shou I d be
accommodatea by two pumpers and a grass rig - we should
expect to fund the ful I replacement cost of these three
units. In addition, we should expect to share the cost of
one aerial truck <which we are now doing). a rescue truck,
one chief's car, and when a replacement is needed, the
. hazardous materials unIt.
I hope this Summary is of some benefit. If we have
other questions, I'm sure the chief would be Willing to
further enlighten us.
-- P,j,ge :5 --
.
--
,
