<br /> . . Minutes of the Arden Hills Regular Planning Commission Meeting, 3-7-90 <br /> Page 3 <br /> UPDATE; GB DIST. Planner Bergly referred Commission to his memorandum <br /> . to Council dated 2-12-90, relative to the Metropolitan <br /> Council concerns regarding the proposed Gateway Business District. <br /> Bergly advised the Metropolitan Council is reviewing the Comprehensive Plan <br /> Amendment and has expressed concerns regarding traffic impact portion of the GB <br /> District. He explained staff has met with representatives from the Met Council <br /> regarding other concerns and has addressed the other concerns listed in the <br /> memorandum. <br /> The Planner stated the Traffic Engineer from the City consulting engineering firm <br /> is reviewing the traffic issues and meeting with the Metropolitan Council staff <br /> representative. <br /> Bergly noted no action is necessary at this time, however, if a plan amendment is <br /> to be considered, this matter will return for Commission input. <br /> There was discussion relative to traffic alternatives which may be listed in the <br /> Comprehensive Plan amendment or a reduction in the FAR requirements for portions <br /> of the GB District. <br /> Chairman Probst noted the corridor along TH 51, Old Snelling, has been discussed <br /> for the proposed light rail transit. <br /> PRELIMINARY RPT; Planner Bergly referred Commission to his preliminary <br /> LEXINGTON AVE., report on the Lexington Avenue Traffic Study and reviewed <br /> TRAFFIC STUDY the seven maps included in the report: Primary Land <br /> . Uses, Ownership, Electrical & Rail Service, Street & <br /> Property Access, Functional & Visual Problems, Land Use and Schematic <br /> Circulation. <br /> Bergly introduced Mr. George Lang, representing the St. Paul Companies, and <br /> advised this company is a major property owner in the area and has expressed an <br /> interest in working with the City regarding Lexington Avenue issues. <br /> There was discussion relative to development patterns and the creation of a new <br /> access street to the rear of the properties fronting on Lexington Avenue, between <br /> Red Fox and Grey Fox Roads. <br /> The Planner noted the information provided is strictly on a preliminary basis and <br /> he will be forwarding a more detailed study at a later date. <br /> Chairman Probst advised traffic study was initiated due to the identification of <br /> the retail development pattern along Lexington Avenue; this preliminary diagram <br /> addresses the possibility of providing rear access for the businesses fronting on <br /> Lexington Avenue. <br /> Commission thanked Bergly for the preliminary presentation. <br /> SUBCOMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> ARSENAL STUDY Member Ray McGraw reported on the activities of the <br /> . Arsenal Study Subcommittee. He requested City Staff and <br /> Council input regarding any discussions which involve the Arsenal property in <br /> order to coordinate information and identify if the same issues are being <br /> discussed. <br /> Member Martin suggested McGraw and City Staff keep in contact with the <br /> surrounding communities to present a more unified appearance to the TCAAP <br /> officials. <br />
