Additional Gambling Licenses. The City has the
authority to issue additional licenses and could
increase the authorized number of licenses from 9 to
10 by amending Arden Hills Code Section 5-8.
2. License Term. For administrative purposes, the
Charitable Gambling Control Board only issues
licenses for one year and, opposes a uniform license
expiration date. Consequently, licenses are held for
one year staggered terms defending upon the date of
issuance~ The Charitable Gambling Control Board
would not issue a license for a nine month period
even if requested by the City.
3. Sunset Provision. The City can reduce the number of
licenses gradually over a period of time or could
eliminate one license by adopting a sunset provision
as part of the City code. The City could eventually
accomplish the same thing by refusing to approve
reapplication if the license has been inactive for
all or a portion of the previous license year.
4. Revocation or Suspension of Licenses. Although state
regulations require local approval, gambling licenses
. are actually issued by the Charitable Gambling
Control Board. There is no provision in the state
-----
--
