STATE OF MINNESOI'A COUNTY OF RAMSEY CITY OF ARDEN HILIS . RESOIDrION NO. 90-36 RESOlDITON AUJ:'IK)RIZING THE CITY OF ARDEN HILIS TO JOIN AN E:NVIRONM:ENrAL CITIES COALITION WHEREAS, the city of Arden Hills recognizes its leadership role in protecting the environment of those people living and working within the city, andi WHEREAS, the City recognizes that there is a need for goverrnnental bodies to act quickly on many of the environmental problems facing themi and WHEREAS, the City recognizes that local environmental initiatives often have a more i1nmediate linpact on the environment than those initiatives passed at higher levels of goverrnnenti and WHEREAS, the City understands that there is a need by bJsiness, other goverrnnental bodies, and the public for unifonn regulations a=oss the statei and WHEREAS, the city believes that one way to obtain this type of unifonn regulation is to work closely with other cities in such a way as to coordinate the environmental legislation passed in these cities; and WHEREAS, the city also believes that this type of inter-city cooperation may act . to stimulate state envirorunental legislation dealing with the topics address by the cities and in a fonn a=eptable to the cities. NOW', 'IHEREFClRE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Arden Hills authorizes the City to join an environmental cities =alition, to participate in its decision making processes, and to share inforIl'ation with other group members; and BE IT FURI'HER RESOLVED, that the City Council understands that, although the decisions of the =alition are not binding to the City, the city will actively participate in the =alition's activities to the extent it considers appropriate.
