Berger, city Administrator <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Reclassification of Public Works Supervisor to <br />Public Works Superintendent <br /> <br />================================================================ <br /> <br />At the September 24 Public Works supervisor's performance <br />evaluation, staff was directed to prepare materials for <br />reclassification of this position to Public Works <br />Superintendent. Attached is a job description and salary survey <br />for the reclassification. <br /> <br />Please focus your attention on the change under the Major <br />Responsibility Area, Item #2. This item reflects significant <br />organizational responsibilities that were not evident in the <br />previous job description. Staff believes that major <br />responsibility area #2 is a strong rationale for reclassification <br />at this time. The superintendent reclassification much more <br />. appropriately identifies the current responsibilities for <br />on-going communication with council, staff, consultants, and <br />community relations that were not reflected in the earlier <br />position description. <br /> <br />ACTION REQUIRED: <br /> <br />If Council concurs, they should pass a motion reclassifying the <br />Public Works Supervisor position to Public Works superintendent. <br />It should also be noted that Dan is currently at step 5 in the <br />Supervisor pay plan ($3,059 per month).
