October II, 1965 <br /> Meeting was cal led to order by Meyor Kennedy' at 8:05 p.m. <br /> Roll Call: Prosent - Mayor Kennedy, Trustees Crepeau, Nethercut and Olmen. <br /> Absent - Trustee BJorndahl and Administrative Clerk Lorraine <br /> Stromqu 1st . <br /> Also Present - Atty. Vincent P. Cour1~ey, Engr. Don81d Lund. Tr88s. <br /> Worth G. Read, Deputy Clerk Florence Honan. <br />e. Storm Sewer Bids <br /> Deputy Clerk Florence Honan Informed the Council that '~IO bids had been recoIved <br /> for the construction of a storm sewer at the County Road F playground. The bIds <br /> received were as follows: <br /> Rosetown Sanitation Co. $3,377.60 <br /> Sonny's Sewer Service 4,193.75 <br /> The Deputy Clerk Informed the Council that she noted that the Sonny;s Sewer Ser- <br /> vice bid was not accompanied with the required bond or cert/Hed check. <br /> Bids referred to Engr. Lund, who' checked the bids and Informed the Counci I "("a",' <br /> they appea red to be in order. Mr. Lagerstrom, Cha I rman of the Pa rks and Recr'38- <br /> tlon Dommlttee, stated that the bids appeared high. Engr. Lund informed the <br /> Councl I that th~ tost of the material only at $2,000.00, bui" Fred Nixon does not <br /> have the equlpmant to do the project. He also ststed that the specifications call <br /> for a complete, Job -'grading, etc. <br /> Mayor Kepnedy stated that he would like to withhold action until the next Councl I <br /> meetlng'to give Trustee BJorndahl an opportunity to check the bids and also to <br /> have time to obtain approval from the private property owners whose property is <br /> Involved in the project. <br /> Engr. Lund stated that completion date specified In the contract Is Nov. 12, bu',' <br /> we do have 30 days In which to accept or reject the bids. The Council agreed <br /> that withholding action until the next Council meeting would stIlI give the <br /> contractor adequate time to complete this small project by the Nov. 12 comple";"lan <br /> date. <br /> Matter referred to Atty- Courtney to obtain approval for trespassing on prIvata <br /> property and to the Clerk to Inform Trustee BJorndahl of the proceedings. <br /> Water Franchise Matter <br /> Mr. George RelJlng requested the Council to consider the granting to his company <br /> a franchise to fmr.nlsh water to an area south and west of Control Data on land <br /> owned by Steve Krannack and south of Red Fox Road on land owned by John Daubney <br /> and Don Roberts and Mr. De Coster, <br /> Mr. ReIlIng explained that his company could build water facilities cheaper than <br /> the Village with no cost to the village residents. He also stated that he Is <br /> considering contacting 'Control Cata to negotiate buying their water facilities as <br /> . a start, but believed negotiations should start with the Village before approaching <br /> Control Data. <br />. <br /> Mayor Kennedy stated that, In his opinion, he believes each plant puttIng In I"~s <br /> own system Is at a disadvantage. He requested Mr. ReIling to submit his contrdct <br /> Including the area Involved to Atty. Courtney for study. <br /> In response to Inquiries from Trustee Crepeau, Mr. ReI~JnQ Informed the Council <br /> that he would consider supplying water southsrl1 to the'taacks only and not to <br /> County Road E. Mr. Reiling stated that his company could supply almost any area <br /> with water, especially undeveloped project areas, but It would not be feasible to <br /> go Into private developed residential areeas where Individual wells are biiq,fii~ "used <br /> as the facility would only come Into use as the IndivIdual wells would go dry. <br /> Mr. Glennon from McGulre,'s stated that If they were Included In a serviced area, <br /> they would be happy to connect as they do have electrical failures with their <br /> ' present system. <br /> -1- <br />
