Husby. <br />Mr. Perry and also Bethel COllege to discuss Possible land acqUisi- <br />tion for recreation. He reported th~t the CO~ittee is considering <br />a skating rink on the playground at County l'08d J;; and Hamline Ave.; <br />this would be a hockey rink for the younger age group and could also <br />be Used for free skating with parking at the dead end of Glenarden <br />R~d. . <br /> <br />TrUstee Cr'epeau sum:;ested that pos sibly the La.,e Johanna :B'ire Dept. <br />would consider Cioinf, the prLie flGodlng since it would be a Village <br />pro jec t. <br /> <br />Trustee Bjorndahl informed the Council that the civic center study <br />deserves more t1.,.e than the Committee can /!live it and reco;..zr.ended <br />that a special committee for this study alone. becauae of its <br />compleXity, he stated that he would be willing to act as liaison <br />to such a committee. <br /> <br />Mayor Ken.nedy informed the Council thf!t it is too late to place a <br />bond issue on this year's ballot and the pUblic should be better <br />informed before this action is taken; therefore. he SUff-eated <br />delaying any further action en land acquisition at this tin.e and <br />reql;ested the COllIlllittee to spend the time on the civic center needs <br />and loc.ation. <br /> <br />Trustee Hethe~cut felt the land aoquisitioh matter should be pur= <br />sued to a point and Trustee Bjorndahl feels that small parcels <br />could be purchased f:rom the bUdget or over a few years period with= <br />out a bond issue. <br /> <br />REPORT OF MAYOR llliNNEDY <br /> <br />United Nations Representative <br />1'he matter of' a representative for United Nations Day Was !'eferred <br />to Clerk Lorraine StromqUist to confer with the League of Women <br />Voters of Arden Hills and request them to submit its name as <br />representative. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Federal Aid - Munici al Improvements <br />yor Kennedy submiGted a copy 0 an excerpt from a ~ederal ~ublica- <br />tion concerning federal financial aid for mUclicipal improvements. <br />Matter referred to Clerk to cheo;, ~ith ~ngr.
