VINCENT P. COURTNEY <br /> <br />Sign andBillboard Ordinance <br />At'by. He stated that, in his opinion. the Ordinance <br />is enforceable regarding non-conforming signs, except when the C0l1tr2ct~ <br />has a substantial invested interest, then compensation should be con~ <br />sidered. He said that he believes thet the contractor should be given <br />suffic lent time to fulfill his co n'bract and each caee should be evalul',tec1; <br />he recommended issuing licenses at the usual license fee Lmt:U 'bhe <br />expiration of the contracts. <br /> <br />Clerk Lorraine Stromquist submitted a list of non=conforming signs in <br />the Vil1aeej she informed the Council that one sign company had sub~ <br />mitted exp~r~tion dates for their contracts. Mayo~ Kennedy requested <br />the Clerk to obtain expiration dates on all the contracted non=confo~m~ <br />ing signa. <br /> <br />Mayor Kennedy reca~ended that sign contracts extending more than m70 <br />years be considered individually~ <br /> <br />Trustee Nethercut moved, seconded by Trustee Crepeau, that the Cle~k be <br />authorized to issue licenses for signs for the period of the present <br />contracts, but not to exceed two years; motion carried. <br /> <br />Clerk, Lorraine Stromquist stnted that the direotional sign owned by <br />Kem Milling Co., New Brighton, 1s on State Highway property and the <br />Highway Dept. has requested its removal. <br /> <br />Mayor Ke nnedy !'equested the Clerk to contact the owners of I'Fo!' SaleH <br />signs, or signs implying property for sale, should be contaoted and <br />info!'med that the signs must comply with the Ordinance in size = not <br />"flo exceed 2 ft. x 2 ft. <br /> <br />Trustee Nethe!'cut moved, seconded by T!'ustee Lang, and Carried, as <br />recommended by the Board of Appeals in their letter, dated March 4, 1965. <br />that the Skyline Motel on Highway #8 be given an extension until June 1, <br />1965. to remove their sign, at Which tile they have agreed to move the <br />sign out of Arden Hilla. <br /> <br />The mat'ber of signa for presblterian Homes, Bethel College and the <br />St. Paul Bible College was re erred to the Board of Appeals. <br /> <br />Dick Jones appeared in behalf of the Trinitr Lutheran Church on New <br />Brighton Road. According to the Ordinance 'hey are slloweu one bulletin <br />board; the Church feels that it should not be required to obtain a <br />lioense for the second bul1e'~in bosZ'd. Clerk Lorraine Stromquis'b said <br />that she had talked with Rev. Baltz and he had requested that she p~esent <br />the matter. Trustee Olmen, a mamber of the congregation. had also <br />talked with Rev. Beltz.
