Present = Mal\for.Kennedy. Trustlees Nethercut, Crepeau and <br />Lang <br />Absent ='Olmen . <br />Also Present ~ Atty. Vincent P. Courtney, Justice of the <br />Peace =. Victor O. Pomerenke, Treas, Worth G. Read. <br />Clerk Lorraine Stromquist <br /> <br />Newly Elected Officers <br />Atty. Courtney administered the oath of office to np.wly elected Trustee <br />James Lang, and to re~elected Trustee Robert Nethercut and Justice of <br />.~he Peace Victor O. Pomerenke. <br /> <br />Atty. Fees <br />Discussion by the Council regarding attorney fees with figures furnished <br />from surveys of other municipalities and submitted by Clsr-k Lorraine <br />Stromquist and Atty. Courtney. Atty. Courtney has been charging less <br />than the minimum hourly bar fee of $25.00 hourly. He stated his request <br />would probtlbly increase the annual challge to the Village about ~~500000. <br />but this figure will fluctuate aocording to prosecutions. etco <br /> <br />Mayor Kennedy moved, seconded by Trustee Crepeau, that Atty. vourtney be <br />paid $35.00 for each Council meeting and an hourly fee of ~20.00 for <br />other services; motion carried, (JA .~ ~ ~'l .~ <br /> <br />Uniform Building Code <br />MayOl' Kennedy read an excerpt from "Federal Aid in !"inenc:lng\\ concerning <br />the National Association of Home Builders recamnlendation of a uniform <br />building code. Matter referred to Atty. Courtney. <br /> <br />Village Employee Benefits <br />The matter of village employee benefits was discussed by the Council. <br />Clerk Lorraine ~ubmitted a breakdown of surrounding villages concerning <br />vacation pay, holiday pay and sick leave, and the proposed Arden Hills <br />benefi ts. <br /> <br />Trustee Lang recommended that npart-timeG be defined. <br />Matter referred to Clerk for further details. <br /> <br />League of Minnesota Municipalities <br />Clerk Lorraine Stromquist read two background shee.~s from the L..M.M. <br />concerning two proposed resolutions; the first one concerning the vlith= <br />drawal of the state from real property tax field and the second one <br />on new sources of revenue for m~nicipal government. The League l'O= <br />quested Counoil consideration of these proposals and to so inform the <br />League. Trustee Nethercut moved approval of the proposal to urge the <br />Legislatul'e to embark on a program of gl'rdual withdrawal of the state <br />from the property tax field in the shortest possible time and to the <br />greatest extent possible consistent with the needs of proper financing <br />of state government; seconded by Trustee Lang; motion oarried. <br /> <br />Mauor Kennedy moved, seoonded by Trustee Crepeau, that the Council <br />not approve the proposed resolution on new sources of revenues for <br />munidipal government; motion carried. <br /> <br />~~tr~)~ourt Cul de Sac . <br />E. w.
