As
. you know, the objectives are spelled out in the State Statute that imposes
the requirement for developing a local plan. The objectives are listed with
the recommended policies following each objective.
Objective 1: Protect, preserve and use natural surface and groundwater
storage and retention systems.
Pol icies: Establish 100-year flood levels based on critical storm
events.
Prohibit encroachment that will reduce the capacity of
floodways and allow only structures in the flood fringe that
have been flood-proofed or that will not receive excessive
Jama~e.
Preserve the retention capacities of the present drainage
system.
Alteration of wetlands is discouraged. Alteration may be
allowed on an individual basis if the alteration can be
accomplished within the regulations of all federal, state and
local agencies that have jurisdiction over the particular
wetland.
. Objective 2: Minimize public capital expenditures needed to correct
flooding and water quality problems.
1959 SLOAN PLACE, ST, PAUL, MINNESOTA 55117 612.774-6021
9800 SHELARO PARKWAY.
