'Ihe American Lung Association offers classes in Roseville <br /> at a cost of $65.00 which includes 8 classes over a 8-week period. Each <br /> class is 2 hours in length. <br /> 'Ihe payment f= the classes could be accorrplished two ways; first, the <br /> city could pay the full cost of the classes f= the employee = second, <br /> the employee could pay the full costs and later be re:i1lll:ursed by the <br /> City for all or partial costs upon campletion of the program. <br /> 'Ihe City Accountant proposes that the employee pay the full =t of the <br /> classes. 'Ihe city then could reimburse one-half of the initial cost to <br /> the employee upon successful attendance by the employee at all 8 <br /> meetings. ('Ihe Lung Ass<x:iation does keep attendance records of all the <br /> classes and could verify this for the City). 'Ihe City =uld also choose <br /> to re:i1lll:urse the remaining one-half of the cost if the employee quits <br /> smoking for an entire year. (Again, the Lung Ass<x:iation does follow up <br /> with all the class attendees and could verify this for the City) . <br />. CUrrently, the City has a potential 4 employees who may want to take <br /> advantage of these classes. A $300 =ntingency was b..Jdgeted for 1.992 in <br /> the travel and =nferences line item within the administrative area of <br /> the General Fund. 'Ihese funds would be available if any staff members <br /> are successful in campleting the smoking cessation classes. <br /> Section 3 of the administrative policy refers to disciplinary action. <br /> violations of the Smoke Free Workplace Policy should be reported to the <br /> immediate supervisor of the violator. 'Ihe supervisor would then <br /> investigate and issue appropriate disciplinary action if necessary.
