/VeuJ /JO,ghiOf) /XL/IUlf
Who pays ? Wed, - 1/g/9Z
~ Drainage plan tabled
The. solution to the drainage prohlem
along Arden Place was postponed again last
week as the' Arden Hills City Council tabled
action and continued a public hearing to its
July 27 meeting.
The .cost of installing a new, larger
drainage pipe. is estimated to cost $20,800,
including administrative costs. However, the
city is 'uncertain if, a drainage easement must
be acquired as well, and if so, at what cost.
The council hopes to have an answer by
July 27 concerning easement costs. At least a:
portion of the project likely will be assessed
to local property owners, many. ,of whom
. voiced strong opposition to that idea at the
June. 29 public hearing.
Some property owners stated the project
will not add value to their respective
properties; therefore they should not be
assessed. However, the city's consulting
engineer said all owners of properties that
contribute water runoff to the drainage
problem could be assessed.
One home in the area receives most of the
unwanted excess drainage. Some surrounding
property owners said the city should not have
~ allowed the home to be built in the first
place, Therefore, they contend the city should
pay the entire cost of solving the problem.
..
Search party ;
AH hires headhunter
The Arden Hills City Council has agreed
to pay a consulting firm up to $4,500 to assist
the city in searching' for a new City
Administrator.
.Former administrator Gary Berger
resigned March 23.
The Brimeyer Group has estimated it will
,. talCe ,40.-to 45"'honrS"W'perfcifui,'ltS''f'tiQ.\1Ji6riZ'' .'
which includes II).eeting with current city
staff, determining community priorities,
. screening interested individuals, developing a
list of five to seven c~ndidates and
conducting background a"d reference checks
on those the city council wishes to interview.
~ The firm' will charge $110 per hour for its
work.
The new city administrator can expect to
earn an annual salary of between $45,000 and
$50,000.
.
