CITY OF ARDEN HILLS JUNE 24, 1992 PAGE TWO In May 1992, we reviewed the site and determined that a possible construction alternative would be to extend pipe within the north right-of-way of Arden Place and across Ridgewood Road into property owned by the Lake Johanna Beach Club. Another option to extend the pipe between 3487 and 3505 Ridgewood Road was dismissed due to the depth of excavation and extensive tree removal, We contacted both the former and current president of the Beach Club, who indicated they would not oppose the project if the proper easements were obtained. As presented at your May 18, 1992 Council meeting, the estimated construction cost to extend storm sewer pipe to the Lake Johanna Beach Club property is $24,000. Using the same 25 % overhead figure, the estimated project cost would be $30,000. This cost is higher than the option discussed last fall due to an additional 140 feet of storm sewer pipe, an additional manhole and driveway restoration work. The cost of obtaining any necessary easement from the Beach Club is purely speculative, but we would hope it would be minimal. The attached exhibit shows both the option presented last fall and the new option toward Ridgewood Road. Should the City Council choose to move forward with the original proposal, it would be necessary to approve the plans and specifications and order advertisement for bids. . The necessary resolutions have been prepared for your consideration for either option. A central question to either option for this project is the method of financing.
