.
. CITY OF ARDEN HILLS
MEHlRANIXlM
mTE: October 13, 1993
TO: Dorothy A. Person, City Administrator
FRai: Brian Fritsinger, rnmnmity Planning Coordinator
stlBJ!X::I' : plannina Packets
One of the iterrs that you and I have discussed is the process of
providing the city Council with information on the monthly plannin:J'
cases . with the recent change to reviewing plannin:J' cases at the last
meeting of the month, my concern has been providing the most camplete
and co=ect information in the most tilnely manner as possible.
The pr=ess we undertake is as follows:
1.- Plannin:J' Packets/Reports mailed to City Council- October 28
2. Planning Commission Meeting - November 3
. 3. Administrative fOllow-up in newsletter - November 5
4. Draft minutes sent to City Council - November 12
5. City Council Meeting - November 29
I support the recent change of addressing the plannin:J' cases at the last
meeting of the month. This allows staff to undertake any n~ssary
follow-up in the weeks following the Plannin:J' Commission meeting.
The pr=ess above worked well when the City Council acted on the items
at the first meeting of the month. However, with the additional two
week delay, I have a concern that the information the City Council has
to review not being the most acarrate or detailed. I have also worked
with City Councils that are not as concentious as this one about
reviewing information prior to a meeting.
I would like to suggest a change to this format. I am cognizant of the
Councils need to get this information as soon as possible, so I am open
to suggestions on my proposed format.
1- Planning report to Planning Commission and
memorandum up:1ate to Council - Oct. 28
2. Planning Commission meeting - November 3
3. Administrative follow-up in newsletter - November 5
4. Draft minutes to City Council - November 12
5. Revised report to City council - November 26
. (or Nov.12)
6. City council meeting - November 29
