CITY OF 1\RDEN HILLS
ME2DWIDUM
'IO: Dorothy Person, City 1\dm:inistrator
FRCM: Dan Winkel, Public Works SUperintendent /)AW,
Dl'd'E : OctOber 15, 1993
SUBnX:T: 1994 Pavement Management Re<::onmendations
In August of this year, a geoteclmical study was done by American Engineering
and Testing to determine the road =nditions for planned reconstruction for
1994.
The study results are enclosed. Also enclosed is a letter from Greg
stonehouse from Maier stewart with the estimated costs for the reconstruction
of Bussard Court, Dunlap Avenue, and Amble Dr'ive. The =ld in-place recycle
for Keithson Dr'ive will also be done in 1994.
The =ent 1994 proposed J:::udget has $132,200 from the general fund, and
. $55,000 from Minnesota state Aid mintenance monies and County aid. In
addition, the stonn water management J:::udget has $25,000 for the pavement
management improvements. These monies would be used for new =00 and catch
basin repairs.
Should the Council decide to assess 50% for the reconstruction projects, then
all four of the streets listed in the geotechnical study can be completed.
The City'S estimated share of =sts for these projects would be $207,000.
After the bids are received on these projects, we will better ]mow how much is
available for seal-coating and over-laying. I would like to see at least
$20,000 to $25,000 in seal-coating work done in 1994. A=rding to the
pavement rating schedule, the top five streets due for over-lay are Pleasant
Dr'ive, Harriet Avenue, Lake Lane, Hunters Court and Benton Way. The city
engineer and myself will estimate =sts for these streets.
.
