One of the main detractors from the home was its
proximity to Lake Johanna Boulevard with its accompanying traffic.
One of the main assets to the home were the views we had when we
looked out of our living room and bedroom windows and when we sat
out on our deck. We saw treetops and skyline and were afforded some
seclusion and privacy. It was a main selling point of the home as
... far as we were concerned and has been a source of pleasure.

The seclusion, privacy and enjoyment of our property has been
violated by the construction of this building. If the building
being constructed were situated in a valley, it would be considered
a huge structure. Situated on top of a hill, it is a vulgar
monstrosity. While I would not have opposed a structure that was
sensitive to its impacts and of its surroundings, I do oppose this.
It is a monstrosity that I will have to look at every time I look
out of our living room or bedroom windows or sit out on our deck.
Not only does this building take away our views but it also takes
away our privacy, as windows have been installed which face our
property.

While I realize that we have little or no control over what an
adjacent neighbor may do with their property, it seems to me that
the council has the responsibility to take potential impacts on
affected properties into consideration. The council places itself
in a precarious position when it allows a building to be
constructed which detracts from the enjoyment, privacy, and hence
value, of nearby properties. One needs to look no further than the
adjacent city of Shoreview to find a lawsuit based on similar
circumstances.

While I am so angry that there are any number of catty remarks I
would like to make concerning how I feel about the total
. insensitivity of the owner and the council to the impacts of this
structure to its surroundings, (not to mention the incessant
