Minutes Page 8 02/02/94 .
Barb Piotrowski stated the Lexington Avenue Plan is
obsolete. She suggested writing a letter to Cub and
advertising land in newspapers.
Chair Winiecki asked Councilmember Aplikowski why the
Economic Deyelopment Committee needs a current listing of
the businesses when the City has the Lexington Study to help
them. She went further to request the makeup of the
committee and offered a Planning Commission member to attend
the meetings to assist with background.
Councilmember Aplikowski replied a look needs to be taken at
all of the businesses in Arden Hills to determine what types
of businesses we lack in the community. The committee is
made up of nine members and all meetings are open to input
from members of the Community.
Ms. piotrowski expressed concerns with sharing our future
development plans with Shoreyiew considering the
relationship of the two cities.
Mr. Rye asked if the Economic Deyelopment Committee is
contacting the property owners within the Lexington Area and
if not, it may be a good idea to inyolve them, .
Mr. Fritsinger replied except for Roberts, no other contact
with the property owners has been made to date. If staff
were directed to undertake additional review of this study,
contacts would be made at that time.
Mr. Rye stated the need to bring the businesses together.
Mr. Fritsinger said the Economic Deyelopment Committee could
begin working on so many issues, but the most important is
to establish contacts with the local business so the
committee can begin to address other projects. When those
issues come up the committee will be more directly involved
with the businesses.
Mr. Rye suggested the committee update local businesses on
their procedures and plans.
Chair Winiecki stated if the committee is unsure of
asserting themselyes, the Planning Commission was willing
to help introduce and endorse the Economic Deyelopment
Committee as the group to promote Arden Hills business
development.
Councilmember Aplikowski replied the committee is planning .
to include a brief background in the City newsletter about
the new committee.
