- - --------------.-
. CITY OF .1lRDE2l HILIS
MEKlRANIJlB
DATE: February 23, 1994
TO: Dorothy Person, City .lldministrator
FRCM: Cindy Severtson, Park and Recreation Director ~5
Sl.IBJECT : Sheehy Prcperty
In assessing the area that the Sheehy's are interested in donating, it
is my opinion that there is no reason not to accept the land. As you
know, the property consists of prirrarily Type III and/or Type IV
wetland. Due to its wetland delineation, the soil conditions present
may make it difficult but not necessarily impossible to develop.
The Park and Recreation Chnnittee has discussed the situation and lM:JUld
be happy to receive the land in the event it was designated by Council
to be park land. There may be a possibility of linking portions of the
land into our trail system.
Should the Council decide to accept this property, I lM:JUld recanrend
. rerroving the tennis court following an assessment of the area when the
S11CM rrelts. Staff has confirrred with Mr. Sheehy that he has no
objections to rerroving the tennis court. He confirrred that the court is
in p:lOr shape. He also stated that water does =casionall y flow over
and rmder the tennis court. As stated in the January 10 rrerro, the
estimated in-kind labor cost to the City for derrolishing the tennis
court is between $1,500-$2,000.
Should you have additional questions or concerns, relating to the Parks
and Recreation Department reccmrendations, please feel free to contact
rre.
CS:to
.
