<br />SECTION 5-68. REDEMPTION BY OWNER; FEE. Any domesti~ an~mal <br />. impounded pursuant .to the provisions of this division may be <br />redeemed from the pound by the owner thereof within five (5) days <br />after such impoundment upon payment to the clerk~administrator of <br />~ an impoundment fee as has been from time to time established <br />by the city council by resolution, plus the license fee required <br />pursuant to sect ion 5 - 5 9 hereof in the vent the dog is not <br />licensed. (Ord. No. 198, 9, 6-27-77) <br /> <br />SECTION 5-69. RELEASE. Upon the presentation of proof of a <br />valid license for such domestic animal and payment of the fees <br />provided in the previous section hereof, the poundkeeper shall <br />release the domestic animal to its owner. The poundkeeper shall <br />further take such steps as are necessary to cause the owner of the <br />domestic animal to be charged with any violation of this article <br />which gave rise to the impoundment of the dog. (Ord. No. 198, 9, 6- <br />27-77) <br /> <br />SECTION 5-70. REDEMPTION BY PERSON OTHER THAN OWNER. If the <br />owner of any domestic animal impounded under this division shall <br />fail to redeem such domestic animal within five (5) days after its <br />impoundment, not including Sunday or holidays, any other person <br />may, upon complying with the provision of this division, redeem <br />such domestic animal from the pound and be the lawful owner of ~ " <br />dog thereafter. If the domestic animal has been requested by a .$~'_' <br />licensed educational or scientific institution under Section 35.71 - <br />. of Minnesota Statutes, then it shall be given to such institution - <br />and shall not be sold. (Ord. No. 198, 9, 6-27~77) <br /> <br />SECTION 5 -71. DISPOSITION OF UNREDEEMED DOMESTIC ANIMALS. All <br />domestic animal impounded under this division which have not been <br />redeemed or purchased as authorized hereby may be disposed of in a <br />humane manner by the poundkeeper or any police officer. (Ord. NO. <br />198, 9, 6-27-77) <br /> <br />SECTION 5-72. INTERFERENCE WITH OFFICERS. It shall be unlawful r <br />for any unauthorized person to break open the pound or to attempt <br />to do so, or to take or let out any domestic animal therefrom, or <br />to take or attempt to take from any officer any domestic animal <br />taken by him in compliance with this article, or in any manner to <br />interfere with or hinder such officer in the discharge of his <br />duties under this article. (Ord. No. 198, 10, 6-27-77) <br /> <br />ARTICLE 7. KENNELS <br /> <br />SECTION 5 -73 . CONSTRUCTION AND PURPOSE OF DIVISION. T his <br />division is supplementary to and in addition to all other <br />provisions of this Code or other ordinances in effect relatinq to <br />the ownership, care and custody of doqs within the City and is <br />deemed necessary by the Council in order to reoulate and control <br />the ownership and the keeping of dogs in and near residential areas <br />of the City. <br /> <br />. <br />
