Council is asked to set a rreeting date for a strategic plarming <br /> session later in April or early May. Possible available dates are <br /> April 28, May 2 or May 12 in the afternoon or Saturday, May 7 in <br /> the m:m1ing. Other dates could be considered. <br /> b. The City has received a request from the league to participate in <br /> City Unity Day Rally scheduled for Thursday, April 21 comrencing <br /> at 9:00 am. The league is also requesting that the City adopt a <br /> resolution declaring April 21, 1994 as Minnesota Cities Unity Day. <br /> Please advise Administrator prior to M:lnday noon if you would wish <br /> to add this Resolution to the agenda for April 11. <br /> Parks & Recreation <br /> a. Spring/SUrrrner banners are to be in place within the next few weeks <br /> (or when the threat of sncM allows the plow to be rerroved from the <br /> tractor) . <br /> b. other miscellaneous projects for spring: <br /> 1. A terrporary fence will be installed at Hazelnut Park for <br /> Bethel Waren's softball. (Bethel paid for the fence and our <br /> . laror to install) . This fence is then used elsewhere in our <br /> parks after their softball season. <br /> 2. Dragging fields, cleaning tennis courts, painting, etc. <br /> Adult softball leagues will begin the end of April. <br /> c. Re=eation prcgrarnning is gearing up with schedules, interviewing <br /> for surcmer employees, etc. <br /> d. Recreation software which will rratch with our new Coaputer's <br /> capability will be purchased shortly. This software corrputerizes <br /> registrations and will sort re=eation prcgram infonnation. <br /> e. A review of the County Road E and Lexington flower garden is <br /> taking place to upgrade the garden. Trees, timbers and Bare <br /> armuals are expected to be planted, along with raising the base so <br /> the garden is rrore visible. Planting day is plarmed for May 21. <br /> f. The 1994 Park Fund updated budget is attached. The $40,000 is <br /> continued as the rraxirrun, but is reprioritized. <br /> Comnunity Plarming <br /> a. Spring Clean Up Day is scheduled for May 21. The City of <br /> Shoreview had previously given us a date of May 17. This new <br /> infonnation will be noted in the SUrrrner Newsletter that will be <br /> rrailed to the residents by the end of April. <br /> . b. The April 6 Plarming Cbnmission was cancelled due to a lack of a <br /> quorum . Brian is scheduling a special Planning Cbnmission meeting <br />
