The <br /> first is the RadioRead System that allows a meter transceiver unit to <br /> be attached directly to the meter thus allCMing the meter reader to <br /> either drive or walk by the residence and read the meter. A radio <br /> signal is exchanged between the meter and either a hand held <br /> interrogator or a mere pc::Merlul vehicle transceiver unit. Once again, <br /> at the end of the day the interrogator or the portable vehicle <br /> transceiver unit can be clown-loaded into a personal carputer. The <br /> manufacturer of the RadioRead System claims that one person driving a <br /> vehicle, and using a vehicle transceiver can efficiently read 1,500 to <br /> 1,800 meters in one day. If this claim is true, all Arden Hills <br /> residential meters could be read by one person in 1 1/2 to 2 days, <br /> The second additional option is called the ph:JnRead System. The meter <br /> is connected to a meter interface unit that is also attached to an <br /> external phone jack. The interface unit is prograrrrred to call "in" to <br /> the personal carputer at City Hall and autorratically transmit data. <br /> The PhonRead System uses the custarer's existing phone line and allows <br /> readings as often as is desired. The phone readings can be carpleted <br /> at any time and are net neticed by the custarer. This system would <br /> . virtually eliminate mest rranual readings. The drawback to this system <br /> is that the phone lines must always be working properly. <br /> The total cost for the three systems mentioned are listed below, with <br /> a cc:mplete breakdcmn on file for future reference. <br /> The Sensus 3/4" SR II TouchRead meter with remcte touch pad is $96.00 <br /> per meter. This price assumes a purchase of at least 500 meters. A <br /> discount of $6.00 per meter IM:JUld be given if the entire system of <br /> 2,400 to 2,500 meters are purchased at one time. The meter price will <br /> remain =nstant for all three options. <br /> . TouchRead System including six touchgtms, 2400 meters at $90.00 <br /> each, all hardware and software IM:JUld =st $225,075. <br /> .
