Malone <br /> opposed (4-1) . <br /> ADMINISTRATOR COMMENTS <br /> Person noted that Planning Commission member Raymond <br /> McGraw had sent in a letter of resignation. She further <br /> commented that staff would be advertising the vacancies <br /> in the Focus newspaper. <br /> Person noted that she would appreciate if the Council <br /> could set a date for a strategic planning meeting with <br /> the department heads, Discussion followed and it was <br /> agreed that Wednesday, May 18, 1994 at 4:30 pm would be <br /> convenient for all the Councilmembers to attend. <br /> MOTION: Malone moved, seconded by Hicks to schedule a <br /> Council meeting for May 18, 1994 at 4:30 pm at the <br /> Public Works building for the purpose of conducting <br /> a strategic planning meeting with the Council and <br /> staff, Motion carried unanimously (5-0) . <br /> COUNCIL COMMENTS: . <br /> Malone referred to the letter received from Laddie J. <br /> Elling addressing the issue of whether there was a <br /> possibility of several communities and the University of <br /> Minnesota pursuing the development of a good professional <br /> golf course on the U of M land near County Rod J and <br /> further on the TCAAP site. He asked Person if staff had <br /> responded to the inquiry, and if not, to write a letter <br /> encouraging the resident to pursue his contacts and that <br /> the Council appreciated his thoughts on possible land <br /> uses. <br /> Malone referred to the letter received from the Hoxmeiers <br /> voicing their concern with the over-population of geese <br /> in the neighborhoods. He commented to Person that in <br /> responding to the letter to make note that the Council <br /> empathized with their concerns. <br /> Aplikowski commented that possibly the DNR could remove <br /> the geese in the fall which could minimize the nesting <br /> areas. She further commented that it was her <br /> understanding that the Arden HillsjShoreview Sportsman <br /> Club had played an active part in bringing the geese to <br /> this area, and possibly they could take responsibility in <br /> dealing with the geese problems. . <br /> ------ ------- <br />
