-
..-,
. CITY 00' 1lRDm'l BILLS
MDDRANDllM
DATE: July 8, 1994
TO: Dorothy Person, City 1\dministrator
FRCM: Brian Fritsinger, eormw...u.ty pJ.ann:i,IJg c:oordma~
SUBJECT : Bethel College. TeupOraZY Office Building
In 1989, the Arden Hills City Council approved the installation of a
terrp:>rary office building in the central area of the carrpus at Bethel
college . This stru.cture was to be rerroved by October 1994, but the
College was given the option of requesting an extension on this
deadline .
Attached you will find the request frcm Bethel College to extend their
use of the terrporary building housing the Continuing Studies offices.
This request is a result of increased emollIreIlt and the lack of
. office space.
On July 7, you and I discussed this request and concluded it could be
sent directly to the City Council. This was based on the caments
included in the case file where Bethel could sul:mit a request for an
extension .
Staff has met with Bethel and inspected the building in question.
Over the last five years, a rn.nuber of inprovements have been rrade to
the building which inprove upon its aesthetic appearance. The
building site is located on the canpus so that it is not highly
visible to vehicle or pedestrian traffic. The building meets all
building cede requirerrents and does not appear to be creating a
hazardous condition.
Staff 'I.OUld reccmrend approval of the extension until October of 1998.
Attachment
.
