Mn c-~
,.
. ARDEN HILLS' FINAL FRONTIER
More than 2500 acres of land within Arden Hills city
limits--now used by the U.S. Army--will eventually be available
for other use, The property is presently the site of the Twin
Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) and is nearly four square
miles in size. Entirely within the city limits of Arden Hills,
the old arsenal/TCAAP site represents almost one-third of the
total land area of the community.
Mike Fix, the TCAAP commander's representative, expects a
small portion of the lands to be available relatively soon.
Based on this latest development, we asked Dennis Probst, Arden
. Hills City Council, to provide an update of the City's position
on the future of the property and its impact on the community.
What interest does the City of Arden Hills have in the TCAAP
Property?
Certainly the City has a responsibility to its citizens to
confirm that the environmental issues associated with the site
are dealt with effectively, It also has a responsibility to plan
for that time in the future when the property is sold by the U.S.
Army.
. -- MORE --
