The City of Shoreview has recently informed me that it is the City of Arden Hills' responsibility to provide warm weather rraintenance on the segments of the Lexington Avenue bike path between County Road F and S.T.H. 96. This is approxirrately one (1) mile. Attached is Resolution No. 83-20 authorizing a joint powers agreement between tbe cities of Arden Hills and Shoreview for tbe rraintenance of certain segments of the Lexington Avenue bike path. The bike path was constructed in 1983 and is in need of sealooating. . I was contacted by Gene Kruckenberg, frcm tbe Shoreview Public Works Department, who told me that Shoreview is planning to seal ooat the bike path fran S.T.H. 96 to County Road G2. He offered to include tbe Arden Hills segment of trail with Shoreview's sealooating bid. The City of Shoreview is planning to sealooat five (5) miles of trails this fall, including their segment of the Lexington Avenue trail. Should the City decide to sealooat the bike path, the cost is estirrated to be $2,000-$2,500 for our one (1) mile segment. In the event that the City of Shoreview is tmable to receive bid prices such as the above, they will probably wait illltil next spring. After talking with Dan Winkel and yourself regarding this issue, I \lRJuld recomnend seal coating the Lexington Avenue trail fran S. T . H. 96 to Coilllty Road F in conjilllction with the City of Shoreview's sealcoating projects. As you suggested, there are sufficient funds in the pavement management sealooating fund 101-43100 #544 to cover this cost. CS:to .
