. .
ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - SEPTEMBER 12, 1994 9
. Winkel stated that the intent for the additional staff person is to solicit more customers.
Mayor Probst stated that he had requested staff to prepare a formal resolution identifying the
City's appointee (himself) to the reutilization committee for TCAAP. He read Resolution No.
94-43:
MOTION: Malone moved and Aplikowski seconded a motion to adopt Resolution No. 94-43.
The motion was unanimously approved.
Mayor Probst requested Council consideration of Resolution No. 94-44 which would also appoint
the Chairpersons of the Planning Commission, Park and Recreation Commission, Finance
Committee and Economic Development Committee, or representatives of those committees.
Those names would be sent to Congressman Vento as part of this nomination process.
Aplikowski noted that the deadline for submitting nominations is 5:00 p.m. the following day.
Chairpersons have not been notified of this nomination. There were also volunteers who wish
to participate at the meeting.
MOTION: Malone moved and Hicks seconded a motion to authorize staff to contact the
Chairpersons of the major City committees to nominate anyone who may be
interested in serving. The motion carried unanimously (4-0).
. Aplikowski asked about staff participation with their expertise. Committee people may not be
up to speed, and the Council has eliminated people who came to the meetings and want to
participate.
Malone stated that the meetings are public and anyone can attend. Anyone who wishes to fill
out the form and send it to Congressman Vento is welcome to do so.
Mayor Probst stated that he attended a Metro Crime meeting sponsored by the Mayors of
Minneapolis, S1. Paul, Crystal, Woodbury, Bloomington, Eagan. It is their clear desire to raise
the public's awareness and talk about the fact that crime in Minneapolis is not just their problem.
While he is not worried for Arden Hills, it is an issue to watch because possibly the lack of
crime in the City has more to do with luck than preventative efforts. The biggest problem is
juvenile crime.
Mayor Probst reminded staff of the correspondence regarding the Amble Drive storm sewer.
The possibility was discussed of inviting residents to a Council worksession. .
Winkel stated that a letter has been drafted, but he is not sure if the City Administrator has sent
it. He will follow up and make sure it is sent to the Mayor for signature.
Mayor Probst noted the need for a public hearing on the animal control ordinance.
.
