<br />facili ~y , The Adult Deten'Cion Can'!:er continues to operate under
<br />ex~=eme overcrowding and, in 1994, reached record high average daily
<br />'Oaoula'C.ions~

<br />~n"May, our Cou~ sec~rity Unit moved into its new headqu~ers in the ·
<br />City aall/Cou~ House. This had been a long awaited se~~rity and
<br />:;lr:.soner escor':. i...'!lprovemen-c for the Sherif::' s Departnent. Previously, I
<br />all iruna 'Ces awaiting cOUr':. appearances we;!:"e held on the su'Ul floor of
<br />~he Adult Detan-cion Cen-ca;!:" and i...~dividually escorced 'Co court. Now,
<br />the inmates are escOr':.ed in large groups to the new Court SeC'.u-ity
<br />holding cells and: then indiyic.ually escor':.ed to tlleir court .
<br />appearance. This has substantially reduced prisone;!:" escorc time and
<br />helped keep the courts on schedule,
