This Petition <br /> , was forwarded to the City from the State Environmental Quality Board on behalf of the <br /> Neighbors of Valentine Lake, Inc. <br /> ,- What is an EA W? <br /> I The purpose of the EA W process is to disclose information about potential environmental <br /> impacts of a project. The EA W is not an approval process. The information disclosed in the <br /> EA W process has two functions: <br /> I (1) It is used to determine whether an EIS is needed; and <br /> I (2) It indicates how the project can be modified to lessen its environmental <br /> impacts. <br /> I The EA W process involves four major steps: <br /> (1) The proposer ofthe project supplies data necessary for the completion of the <br /> I EA W to the Responsible Governmental Unit (RGU). <br /> I (2) The RGU prepares the EA W. <br /> (3) Thirty (30) day public comment period. <br /> I <br /> ,. <br /> , <br />
