I <br /> Adopt Resolution 95-38. Approving the Plans and Specifications and Orderinf the <br /> Advertisement for Bids for the Development of Charles Perry Park. I <br /> City Administrator Fritsinger indicated the Parks & Recreation Committee has had two meetings - <br /> with the residents surrounding Perry Park. The current plans and specifications have taken the <br /> suggestions and concerns of the residents into consideration, The residents are excited for and <br /> supportive of the proposed improvements, - <br /> Mr, Fritsinger indicated with the addition of Park Fund money there has been $322,000 committed <br /> to the project. I <br /> Engineer Stonehouse reviewed the plans and specifications of the improvements using overhead <br /> transparencies. I <br /> Mayor Probst inquired as to the ten foot fence, Mr, Stonehouse noted the location of the fence in __ <br /> right field, Councilmember Keirn commented that the umpires will observe if any concerns arise <br /> regarding the fence and if it should be higher to prevent having balls falling onto private property, <br /> Councilmember Malone expressed concern that all alternatives for cost cutting measures have been I <br /> explored, He asked if there is any portion of the project where expenses could be reduced to meet <br /> the funds available, <br /> Councilmember Malone indicated when the project was first proposed in February 1994 the cost was I <br /> estimated at $379,000; then in May 1994 the cost was $400,000 and a Grant was applied for; in July I <br /> 1994 the cost was $450,000 with the contribution of the City to match the Grant estimated at <br /> $200,000, Currently the cost is estimated at $362,750, although that is substantially less than the <br /> $450,000, it is not much less than $377,000, Councilmember Malone feels additional funding I <br /> should be sought before proceeding, <br /> Councilmember Malone mentioned that the project originally was contingent on funding, he I <br /> believed improvements should be made based on the funds available, <br /> Councilmember Aplikowski inquired if it would be more economical to move the liiJIts towards the I <br /> lighted hockey rink, Mr, Stonehouse indicated there would not be a great deal of savings. <br /> Ms. Megan Ricke, 1510 Arden Vista Court, a member of the Parks & Recreation Commission I <br /> indicated the residents have requested lighting in the parking lot for security, Councilmemher Keim <br /> added the Sheriffs department also has requested lighting in the parking lot. e. <br /> I <br /> I <br />
