The American Indian <br /> population in the trade area is small, approximately 350 persons according to 1990 census data. However, we <br /> are eager to find ways to increase available supportive services to these families which might not be available <br />I without ~ Bingo program as a unique opportunity to enable us to reach out to this important need within our <br /> commumty. <br />I We propose to address these needs within the Arden Hills trade area through these three programs: <br /> I. Provide financial support and cultural resources to the Northwest Youth and Family Services program in <br /> New Brighton. We have met with Kay Andrews and we discussed a partnership whereby we can provide <br />I some financial resources to Northwest Youth and Family Services through these gaming proceeds as well <br /> as provide some cultural resources to their staff to enable them to address any issues affecting Indian <br /> clients with in the trade area. <br />I 2. Sponsor affordable housing in cooperation with Habitat for Humanity within the trade area. <br /> We have spoken with Stephen Sidel of Twin Cites Habitat for Humanity and are exploring a potential <br /> partnership to provide affordable housing the the Arden Hills trade area. <br />I 3. Support affordable housing construction by the Earthstar Project team within the trade area. <br /> At some point in the future after our Elders Lodge is complete in Sl Paul in 1996 we may lnldertake our <br />I own affordable housing initiatives in the Arden Hills trade area to assist families in our community to <br /> obtain affordable housing with support from the Bingo operations. <br /> Proceeds to Earthstar Project activities <br />I Use of these funds will be in accordance with the State Gaming Commission requirements and the agreement with <br /> ~ City of Arden Hills. The EarthstlI Board of Directors will approve the use of these funds for the treatment of <br />. SD, the elderly services program or affordable housing programs as the needs are prioritized by the Board in <br /> accordance with meeting the requirements of the State Gaming Commission, <br />I <br />
