Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TeAAP).
Following a schedule that will deliver fI plan to the City Council by September I, the Arden Hills
I TCAAP Reuse Task Force has developed community reuse goals, criteria for evaluating plans 'for the
site and a fiscal-impact model that will help assess the revenue and cost implications of different
development scenarios. The consultants have also assembled reference papers describing site
I characteristics, surrounding land uses and community character, and market characteristics.
In addition, on June Ilhe TaskForce held the first oftbree planned open houses to invite the
I community into the discussion and keep the public informed about their progress.
"The Task Force deserves a lot of credit," says Arden Hills Mayor Dennis Probst. .Our schedule is very
I- ambitious, especially over the summer, but they're working very bard at staying on schedule. .
On June 28, the Task Force received preliminary results of conununity meetings being held by the
I Arsenal Clean-up and Conversion Project (ACCP). What immediately impressed the Task Force were
the strong similarities between ACCP's findings and the Task Force's own prelimlnaI}' goals for the site.
I "Everyone wants TCAAP to be an asset to the community, whether that means Arden Hills or the
northern suburbs generally," says City Administrator Brian Fritsinger. "The same themes keep coming
up: clean industI}', good jobs, a range of housing types, good access to and from the site, a pedestrian
I environment, and preservation of natural resources."
The Task Force will begin reviewing four planning alternatives, each with a different land-use emphasis
I and layout, on July 12. "Eacll alternative sets aside a certain minimum area for open space and
recreation," says Fritsinger. "The scenarios are all built from this baseline. We're incorporating the ideas
and concerns raised by our representatives, citizens, the ACCP and Congressman Vento's Reutilization
Committee. '
. The City will s!low the four alternatives to Vento's Committee on July 15. The next public open house,
which will invite public review and comment on the alternatives, will be held on Thursday, July 27, at
I 6:00 PM at the Army Reserve Center.
"In the next few weeks, the planning process will take a quantum leap, . says Mayor Probst. 'We
. appreciate everyone's hard work and look forward to creating a plan eveI}'one can support. .
I-
I
. u
