I
I. ARDEN HILLS CITY COUNCIL - SEPTEMBER 11. 1995 12
I Public Works Superintendent Stafford indicated the purchase would allow for a snow plow which
I will help in small areas of the City to be plowed, such as alley ways and cul-de-sacs.
Mr. Stafford noted Staff would recommend approval of acquisition of the 1995 Ford 3/4 Ton 4x4
I with plow package from Superior Ford at a total cost of $21 ,894.73.
MOTION: Malone moved, and Aplikowski seconded a motion to authorize the acquisition of
I the 1995 Ford 3/4 Ton 4x4 with plow package from Superior Ford with a cost not to
exceed $21,894.73. The motion carried unanimously (5-0).
I Midwest Asphalt Pay Estimate Number Two (2).
Consulting Engineer Maurer recommended retaining additional money to assure proper action by
I the contractor in regard to insurance matters that are, as of yet, unresolved.
Mr. Maurer noted based upon conversations with the contractor on Wednesday, September 6, 1995,
I it appears that the three flooded basement claims were to be paid by the contractor's insurance;
however, it is unclear as to whether or not all checks have been written or sent. Until the City is
I- assured that these and the other two property claims are addressed, it is important to retain this extra
amount.
I Mr. Maurer further recommended tabling action until the next Meeting to draw additional attention
to the unsolved issues.
I MOTION: Aplikowski moved to withhold payment until a later date, the motion failed for lack
of a second.
I Councilmember Keirn noted that Midwest Asphalt is the contractor who did the 1994 parking lot
work at Valentine Park and indicated no heavy vehicles should be used on the pavement, yet they
were the ones to park all of their heavy equipment on the pavement during the County Road F
I reconstruction.
I Mr. Craig Wilson, 167'(..County Road F West, noted for the Council that a metal cover was
placed over one of the manholes, but was not covering the manhole completely. Mr. Maurer
indicated it is not uncommon to use metal covers, but it is not appropriate to use the cover for an
I extended amount of time. He noted he will contact the contractor in regard to this issue.
TCAAP
I Community Development Director Ringwald indicated at the September 9, 1995 meeting of the
. Reutilization Committee, Arden Hills presented their plan for the Arsenal property.
I
I
