Mr. Szurek stated <br /> that locating hydrants is a problem due to snow and vegetation. . <br /> Public Works Superintendent, Dwayne Stafford asked Chief Szurek what he thought of . <br /> the fire hydrant markers now being used by most cities. Chief Szurek responded that he <br /> would like to see them here. <br /> He would also like a map of the City hydrants which Mr. Stafford will provide from the . <br /> City, and lock boxes at commercial buildings so that the department personnel can gain <br /> access to the buildings without doing damage when possible. . <br /> Mr. Szurek stressed the importance of visible house addresses and would like to see this <br /> in a code. He also stated he would like to see a full time Fire Marshall in our area to . <br /> make and enforce the codes. We now have only a volunteer who donates 10 to 20 hours <br /> per week. . <br /> Mr. Szurek informed the Committee that they provide training classes to get the I <br /> volunteers certified and that they have 2\3 of the department trained in ice rescue <br /> procedures. They are alviays looking for volunteers. . <br /> Mr. Gillies pointed out that our Public Works department could be more careful when . <br /> plowing, as to avoid piling snow by hydrants, when possible. <br /> OLD BUSINESS . <br /> County Road F <br /> Public Works Superintendent, Dwayne Stafford explained work is done for the season. . <br /> What remains is the last layer of blacktop, re-striping and some punch list items. <br /> Mr. Wilson had hoped that the current striping would be removed due to the leaving out . <br /> of a turn lane and the wide turn lanes near Mounds View High School, which forces <br /> traffic up near curb and eliminates most of a walk or bicycle area.
